The Perfect Picnic Basket: Spring 2022 Edition
One of the best ways to step into spring is to get outside and enjoy good food with friends and family! Picnics are perfect for any outdoor activity, whether it's a walk through “the park,” a date for two on that perfect rooftop terrace or a trip to the beach! If you haven’t packed a picnic basket since you were a kid, it can be hard to know where to begin, so I’ve put together my tips and favorite picnic essentials to get you started.
The Basket
If you prefer a tote, a classic wicker or a larger backpack, I’ve got your covered. And if you are looking for something just to carry the wine, I’ve got that too!
The Packing
Hopefully with the suggestions we gave, you’ve selected the perfect basket to pack up! Now, it’s time to stock it with the picnic essentials. Let’s start with the tools.
Plates & Utensils (enough for everyone attending)
Glassware (reusable if possible) for beverages
Napkins
Ice packs (frozen water bottles work too!)
A Wood Cutting Board for the Meats & Cheeses
Large Blanket
Bluetooth Speaker
Paper towels and a trash bag (for clean up)
Have extra room, throw in a frisbee
The Menu
When building your picnic menu you want to think light and easy. Remember you will have to carry everything with you and you won’t have your kitchen nearby, so you want to prepare items that can travel well. You also will be eating throughout the day so items that can be snacked on are great too.
